Workrise is seeking a Wind Turbine Reliability Engineer to join our client! This role will directly affect the availability and profitability of our wind turbine assets by conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions to equipment issues and other sources of unreliability.


You will be interacting closely with multiple subject areas across the organization including Safety, Operations, Field Service, Engineering and Supply Chain Management to accomplish these tasks.


What you will do

  • Identification of equipment reliability issues through SCADA data and component reliability data analysis
  • Conduct and support wind turbine equipment root cause analysis and develop action plans to remediate equipment issues
  • Assist in developing preventative and predictive maintenance programs for wind turbine equipment
  • Develop and maintains procedures for the safe and reliable operation, replacement, remediation and maintenance of major turbine equipment
  • Responsible for validation of contractors and manufacturers proposals for upgrades, modifications and replacement of components and provide recommendations to the facilities Manager.
  • Engage with Partners, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Service Providers, other Owner-Operators and consultants to keep abreast of leading industry trends that Power Operations could employ to continue to perform in the top reliability and cost quartile of our peers
  • Provide project management support by planning, implementing, and validating corrective actions to equipment failures
  • Work closely with reliability team, Service Engineers, Electrical Engineers and plant managers to identify and resolve equipment issues and performance shortfalls
  • Additional duties and tasks may be assigned, as required, in support of the facility or business unit


Qualifications/skills:

  • Bachelor's Engineering degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field and a minimum 6-7 years of wind industry or related experience
  • Strong analytical, mechanical/electrical and data analysis skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of wind turbine equipment maintenance and operations
  • Knowledge of technical root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Demonstrated problem solving, decision making, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Vestas wind turbines and their systems is considered a strong plus
  • Highly motivated and able to work and produce results independently with minimal guidance


Working Conditions

  • Office environment with up to 20% travel to field locations and industry conferences based on permanent work location
  • Wind turbine site environment to monitor and observe work performed. Applicant must be able to climb vertical stationary ladders inside wind turbine towers to heights greater than 250 feet
  • Occasionally, employee may be required to work in adverse outdoor weather conditions in temperatures greater than 35C and lower than -20C
  • Travel will be required for training and other company business.
  • Environment is fast-paced and deliverables based with competing deadlines to support aggressive operating reliability and cost goals
  • Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Grasping, kneeling, light - moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.
