Job Description WGL - System Planning Engineer I, II, II or IV WGL has an immediate need for a System Planning Engineer to build, maintain, and optimize natural gas hydraulic models, which are utilized in the analysis of the following: new customer growth, customer model assignment, verification and maintenance of existing models and databases, assisting with scheduled and emergency gas supply operations, and the design of other distribution and transmission systems and facilities. Scheduled 24 hour on-call availability is required for this position for unplanned emergency system problems. You Will Maintains a natural gas planning model and develops piping system book for new business and replacement projects. Manages all aspects of network model maintenance and building of new model Evaluates and analyzes distribution and transmission piping systems to determine impact due to scheduled operations and maintenance or emergency scenarios. Evaluates, analyzes, and designs solutions to complex system problems and recommends cost effective infrastructure improvements and replacement work. Evaluates, designs and analyzes new business requests, replacement work, system reinforcements, etc. Provides engineering support to staff analysts and other internal customers on regulator station design, gate station design criteria, overall system operations, etc. Leads the work related to the 10 Year Planning Model. Performs analysis and completes documentation related to the Contingency Planning -System Reliability Conducts unsteady state modeling as requested. Responsible for updating and maintaining CMM data. Supports other engineering departments with capital and maintenance project planning. Supports planning and implementation of the Company's carbon-neutral energy initiatives, such as new RNG supply points, assisting with demand response programs, and hydrogen blending. You Must Have Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferably in Mechanical or Civil A general knowledge of related engineering disciplines and applicable codes and standards. Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with internal and external business partners. Engineer Level I Internship or previous relevant experience a plus. "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) preferred. Engineer Level II Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the natural gas or related industry required. "Engineer-in-Training" (EIT) preferred. Engineer Level III 5+ Years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred Engineer Level IV 7+ years in the natural gas industry or related industry is required Engineer-in-training (EIT) Certification is required Professional Engineering (PE) Certification is preferred Why work at AltaGas?
