Job Description and Qualifications:
P erforms welding processes on aluminum and steel parts and assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals and metal alloys. Determines layouts and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Contributes to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs. Works with minimal guidance, in a team environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Operates welding equipment to perform production welding operations on cabinets, chassis, piping, and weldments. Ensures proper weld specifications.
  • Performs sheet metal layout, shearing, piercing, and forming operations as needed.
  • Prepares parts for welding and cleans welds by chipping, grinding, and filing.
  • Performs heat-treating and stress relieving operations.
  • Repairs, modifies, or alters equipment parts on equipment by welding.
  • Works with other departments to perform manufacturing activities as directed.
  • Works from drawings, specifications, sketches, and work instructions. May also work from verbal instruction.
  • Operates pipe and tube bending equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as directed.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of shop math including algebra and trigonometry
  • Reads and follows drawings, supporting work documentation, and specifications
  • Basic computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proficient at welding GTAW and GMAW and able to pass welding certification test
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of lean initiatives
  • Trade School Certification or two years welding or manufacturing experience
Salary Range: $39,600 USD - $66,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
