Summary of Role You are Applying For:

As a Welder, you will perform entry-level to more advanced welding techniques to support the manufacturing of our products. As a Mig Welder, you will operate hand and power tools to grind, bevel, fit metals together, and remove slag. You will weld, cut, and sand metal pieces and products by using hand welding equipment according to required specifications.

How You Will Spend Your Time:

Every day brings a new challenge at Wood-Mizer. Here are some ways you will be spending your time for each role:

Responsibilities:

• Know how to weld all common types and sizes of steel
• Be able to successfully weld in all positions.
• Set any power supply to weld any size or thickness of steel
• Grind parts per print spec
• Know how to set up an acetylene or propane torch system and operate it
• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts as required
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Train other employees
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Things that are Important to Have:

Below are some requirements for this specific role:

EDUCATION :

• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Vocational school, technical college training, or welding experience is preferred

EXPERIENCE :

• One or two years of welding experience, or training, preferred (Certification not required)

SKILLS :

• Ability to read basic prints and weld symbols on the prints
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments
• Ability to set any power supply to weld and know if the fusion is correct or incorrect
• Must be able to safely use various hand and air tools
• Team player who can work independently
• Ability to follow proper safety protocols
• Ability to retain learned knowledge

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds to waist
• Must be able to stand 8 to 10 hours each day
• Must be able to bend, stretch, squat, and climb on a ladder to access all parts of the machine
• Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead
• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work
