About this Opportunity:
United Mechanical and Metal Fabricators, Inc, is seeking a highly-skilled Welder and Fabricator in our Union City, CA Headquarters to assist with all aspects of welding and manufacturing various parts to customer specifications. Pay is determined based on experience and a knowledge/skills test. This position performs journey-level welding on various material types and gages
Responsibilities:
Fabricate, weld and inspect product in a safe and efficient manner to meet customer requirements
Read understand written documents and interpret blueprints/welding symbols
Maintain a safe and clean work area
Maintain production efficiency levels
An understanding of how to inspect every part using geometric dimensioning and tolerance
Participate in continual improvement activities
Participate in the identification and resolution of problems
Comply with all company rules, regulations and requirements
Job Requirements / Skills:
3-5 years of MIG and TIG experience.
Must be familiar with metallurgy, primarily stainless steel/steel and aluminum
Must know the proper weld settings for welding various materials along with filler rod selection.
Ability and understanding of how to identify the proper order of operations (identifying the main datum point / sequence of hole penetration etc )
Must be able to perform basic arithmetic.
Must be willing to work as a team to complete the job
Must have the ability to learn and teach new skills
Understanding of manufacturing equipment
Understanding of role in meeting quality expectations
Must be able to stand, push, pull, reach and bend to the floor; and must be able to push up to 75 lbs. occasionally
Working Conditions :
Works on the shop floor, may be subject to:
High levels of noise
Physical hazards of moving equipment and machine parts
Varying degrees in temperature
