Job Overview
Position Summary: An experienced Oil & Gas / Mineral Management Closing Officer is needed within the Domestic Trust Oil & Gas Services space. This Senior Associate position requires a highly technical, detailed, and independent professional with a strong land, title research, and curative background in support of Asset Wealth Management Trust & Estate Fiduciary client accounts. The focus of this position is on the administration and operational aspects of specialty asset account closings and requires a strong understanding of the Oil & Gas industry, as well as knowledge of legal ownership transfers for oil and gas/mineral interests. Responsibilities: Work closely with JP Morgan Front Office partners to ensure timely processing and communication of closing materials Coordinate with third party vendors, mineral managers, trust and estate settlement officers, external attorneys, and oil and gas companies to research, resolve, and process transfers of ownership Prepare and report the closing status of active closing cases Follow appropriate policies and procedures to ensure the firm fulfills its fiduciary responsibilities in accordance with the applicable governing documents and jurisdictional laws Review Trust Agreements, Assignments, Deeds, Trusts, Wills, Affidavits of Heirship, Probate, Court Orders, and other land records Verify, analyze, and report data related to land title and Trust or Estate ownership Perform oil and gas land title and curative research functions Carefully maintain digital and physical records according to JP Morgan retention policies in approved repositories Ensure tracking of legal and other land documents for approval, notarization, execution, and recording in County Clerk Offices and Courthouses Qualifications: Experience in oil and gas title, curative, and transfer processes using numerous industry research tools and resources Knowledge of: various oil and gas interest types, mineral / Ad Valorem property taxes, county recording/e-recording practices Strong resilience when working in high pressure, deadline oriented environment Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous responsibilities Flexible with "can-do" approach with an innovative, out-of-the-box mindset Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple lines of business, suppliers, and various levels of management Credible and confident written and verbal communication skills Strong professional concern for quality, detail of work, and organization skills Must be able to work efficiently and independently Demonstrate commitment to successfully meeting deadlines and completing assignments in a timely manner Maintain risk mitigation and controls-oriented mindset Proficient in Microsoft Suite of Applications, including Excel, Access, OneNote, and PowerPoint Bachelor's Degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience 5+ years of Oil & Gas land or title analysis and administration Experience in a fiduciary or mineral management role a plus Texas Notary Public License a plus Intelligent automation solutions and process modeling programs experience a plus, such as: Xceptor, Alteryx, Python, Signavio, etc
