Job Overview

Job Title: WAREHOUSE/SHIPPING CLERK
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW
Packs and crates, ships, receives and perform other warehouse and shipping duties by following established operating procedures by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare shipping documents and schedule freight pick-ups as required.
Route freight to provide the most economical transport of goods and to meet customer or other requirements.
Request freight quotes as necessary from established freight vendors.
Prepare products, spare parts, return parts, and other items for shipment following established procedures for packaging, crating, boxing, bundling, wrapping, strapping, and labeling.
Inspect freight upon arrival, document any signs of damage, and resolve freight claims in a timely manner.
Verify receipt of purchased goods from suppliers, locate product, process paperwork and complete all necessary transactions according to established procedures.
Pick parts and products from appropriate inventory locations in specified quantities as necessary to fill orders by following established procedures.
Visually monitor inventory levels and communicate low levels to buyers, schedulers, and others as necessary.
Cycle count inventory according to established guidelines and assist with developing actions to correct inventory problems.
Complete inventory transactions to receive and issue inventory as required.
Operate lift trucks, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move parts to proper locations and load and unload freight trucks as necessary.
Properly identify and locate all parts according to established procedures.
Ensure compliance to all policies and procedures
Troubleshoot quantity discrepancies with manufacturing and inspection personnel.
Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Rotate material / Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. At least one year of shipping experience is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry-out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to adhere to delegation of authority and lead by instructions of management and supervision

COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic personal computer skills preferred using MS Windows and shipping software.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Attendance is an essential job requirement defined as having regular, consistent, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance including the ability to work regular hours and shifts, overtime before and after shifts and on weekends as required by union contract. Ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction.
