What you'll do as the Vocational Counsellor:
Finds vocational opportunities for individuals referred to the program by CLBC
Support individuals to achieve increased independence in the community, with an emphasis on life skills, employment readiness and job skills
Support youth and families in transition
Work individually and as part of a team while meeting the unique support requirements of individuals
Liaise with professionals as directed
Qualifications:
Experience supporting Youth (15 - 24 years of age), Families in transition and working with School District personnel.
Must have a keen interest, passion and desire to support Youth with diverse abilities
Must be able to create pre-employment skills development lesson plans (based on needs of Youth).
Must have group facilitation skills and the ability to facilitate to an audience with varied abilities.
Able to represent CSCL professionally in interactions with community members and other professionals (i.e.: public speaking and presentations).
Must be able to work collaboratively with other service providers for Research Project (in collaboration with UBC)
Must be able to work independently and efficiently and be self-directed. Being organized is vital
Must be able to write professional reports and meet report deadlines
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks
Must possess strong computer skills
Must have a positive and pleasant work attitude
Great communication skills is a necessity (oral & written)
Knowledge of the Supported Employment Model would be considered an asset
Shifts/Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 12pm-6pm (30 hours per week). This is a temporary vacancy, until December 31, 2022
Must be flexible in order to best support the employment needs of Youth in the service.
