MASS TRANSIT FULL-TIME UTILITY WORKER
NORMAL WORK HOURS: Full-Time, Non-Exempt, Union,1:30 pm - 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm
SALARY: $17.55 per hour
The City of Danville is seeking a Full-Time Utility Worker for our Mass Transit Department. The general purpose of this position and/or contribution to the department is responsible for cleaning, filling fluids and fueling all DMT vehicles, probe and empty fare-boxes, clean facility offices, garage area, and transfer zone facility. Assist in the effort to maintain safe and reliable vehicles. This position will hold a Class B CDL Vehicle Operators License with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.
QUALIFICATIONS: The following are considered minimum qualifications. Extensive related experience will be considered in lieu of these position requirements if they represent similar skills, knowledge, and levels of responsibility.
Education: The minimum educational requirements for this position are:
- Employee must hold a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
Experience: Candidates for this position must possess the following experience, or experience deemed to be equivalent to the following:
- One year experience as a maintenance or custodial worker.
- Must demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position.
Required Skills: The following skills are basic to the functions of this position. Candidates should possess these skills or be able to show their ability to develop these skills within 30 days of their start date.
- Knowledge of custodial procedures and equipment and the ability to use such equipment.
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to understand directives verbally or in writing.
- Knowledge of hand tools and other special tools for repair within assigned tasks, and the ability to use such tools.
- Ability to make quick and accurate decisions.
Required licenses: The person holding this position must have the following licenses or be able to obtain the same within 30 days of their start date:
- Illinois Class B CDL Vehicle Operators License with passenger endorsement and no air brake restriction.
