We seek an experienced professional to fill the role of Utility Operator.

This permanent and full time position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1-hour northeast of Halifax, near Middle Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia. The mine is fully permitted and began production in fall 2017.

Our Utility Operator will join a dynamic Mill Operations team. Reporting to the Mill Shift Supervisor your role will be responsible for performing heavy manual labour duties to assist in the preparation of crushing, milling, and tailings activities.

The Opportunity

Operate industrial mobile equipment as required for the purposes of maintaining integrity and logistics, supplying of required ore feed to the mill, pulling out of the stockpile tent to create emergency stockpile, loading of Trucks, and mill yard and road maintenance
Complete daily pre-operational and post-operational inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure safe operations and operational performance
Perform routine clean-up, housekeeping, and maintenance of facilities, equipment
Mechanically inclined, and willingness to undertake minor equipment maintenance tasks
Equipment clean-up
Pump monitoring
Hose installation and maintenance.
Small and medium equipment operation

Our successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

Must be able to work with a team, take direction from the mill shift supervisors, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
Well versed in industrial or mill site protocols, rules and code of conduct is an asset
Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and action
Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Comply with all safety policies and procedures
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly
Loader and excavator experience
Possess basic written and oral communication skills.
Clean shaven for the purposes of respirator mask proper fit and annual fit test.
