Job Summary:

Transmission Technician Automotive repairs manual and automatic transmissions in vehicles following dealership and manufacturer quality and time standards. Factory training is provided by the Company.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Transmission Technician Automotive Performs transmission repair as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory time allowances and standards.
• Diagnoses cause of malfunction.
• Removes and disassembles transmission unit and performs repair.
• Examines vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
• Transmission Technician Automotive advises service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be made.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts if the job is under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Installs repaired transmission, replaces fluids and makes appropriate adjustments.
• Road tests vehicle when required or refers to test technician.
• Documents work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Transmission Technician Automotive attends manufacturer-sponsored training classes.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
• Transmission Technician Automotive operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must have own tools
• Great mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Valid Driver's License and clean driving record
• Ability to Work on Saturday

Experience:

• At least 2 years of experience with transmission repair

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand 8 hours a day
• Must be able to tolerate working in hot and cold weather
• Must be able to kneel, bend, twist
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance
