Job Overview

Class Description A Traffic Electronics Maintenance Technician II installs, maintains, repairs and tests a variety of complex traffic electronic control equipment.Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work rotating shift work and are subject to call-back.Work is performed in an electronics shop and outdoors where there is occasional exposure to inclement weather and traffic hazards. Work requires moderate physical exertion such as bending and reaching to maintain and repair equipment. Selection Process All candidates indicating the minimum qualifications on their application will be placed on the eligible list without further examination. The license, training, and experience of each candidate will be evaluated for appropriateness and quantity.It is essential, therefore, that you give complete and accurate information on your application. Minimum Qualifications On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must: EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate. AND EXPERIENCE: Have three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic and solid state equipment. OR NOTES (EQUIVALENCIES): Have completion of two years at an accredited college or university in digital electronics, computer science or a related field or possession of a General Radiotelephone license issued by the Federal Communications Commission may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS:Have a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required. Supplemental Information EXAMINATION PROCESS: Applicants must provide sufficient information on their application to show that they meet the qualifications for this recruitment. Successful applicants will be placed on the employment certified eligible list for at least six months. The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position.
