Compensation Range: 73,800-92,300
Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.
Job Purpose
With limited supervision, responsible for complex activities relating to the design, development, and execution of manual and automated test cases and test fixtures. Responsibilities include test code development, interpretation, and implementation of specifications, and technical leadership of the test engineering team. This opportunity would be perfect for someone who is either a fresh graduate looking to learn a new skill or someone with intermediate experience looking to learn a new industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide interface between management and the test team for efficient dissemination of project and design information
Assist in the definition and implementation of detailed test specifications, verification and validation test plans, and internal processes related to test engineering for prototypes and new products
Design, develop, execute, and verify test software before release to production and for sustaining projects
Produce quality test architectural documentation, flowcharts, state diagrams, schematics, and reports for test projects
Draft and provide description and build details for custom apparatus
Write test scripts in Python, C, Visual Basic, LabView or other applicable languages to automate product verification testing
Define method of test to validate products and estimate costs to execute test plan
Establish a method for recording and maintaining test parameters and results
Determine list of required off-the-shelf equipment and test software platforms
Assemble design prototypes for test purposes and provide feedback to design engineers
Identify, promote and oversee coordination of initiatives within the test engineering group for improved efficiency and technical knowledge advancement
Lead team of test engineers and technicians by assigning and prioritizing tasks, leading design reviews; provide technical direction for junior engineers, and ensure test software is developed efficiently.
Communicate status, risks, issues, and recommended mitigation to test manager
Provide weekly status/progress updates to the Test manager
Attend project meetings where the test group requires representation
Assist engineering management with performance feedback for evaluations
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and with test teams
Good interpersonal skills and documentation discipline
Hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment
Python, LabView, and C programming experience
Excellent analytical skills
Ability to operate electronic test equipment
Experience collaborating with department team members
Experience maintaining safe work practices and environment
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to set own priorities
Basic understanding of power conversion topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost, NPC, H- Bridge, resonant)
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office applications
Preferred
Experience with automated test equipment, test software scripts (LabView), schematic capture (Protel), CAD (Vellum, Autocad)
Comfortable working with 'mains' electrical supply
Ability to read engineering drawings
Thorough understanding of power electronics
Familiarity of regulatory requirements
General Job Requirements
Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
