Mold Masters is looking for a EDM Technician to join our team in Georgetown, Ontario.

Mold-Masters is a world-leading supplier of hot runner technology and systems. We design, manufacture, and support a full range of hot runner products that are used in the injection molding production of plastic products - from automotive to everyday consumer items

What you'll do :
Determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, and set up requirements from process sheets and blueprints;
Perform set up and operation of wire and sinker EDM machines in support of production;
Create programmes as per blueprints using the current machine program software provided;
Design the electrode required to perform the required dimensions and geometry as per part blueprint;
Design any required fixturing / work holding;
Select, preset and adjust settings needed for optimal spark gaps, speed and tolerances;
Ensure effective production of quality parts by completing in-process and final checks using gauges and measuring equipment;
Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments;
Ensure that all machining tasks are completed in accordance with specified run times;
Conduct minor preventative maintenance procedures as scheduled and inform Supervisor of any parts that require to be purchased for machine maintenance;
Complete minor programming, cycle or maintenance troubleshooting as required and relay information to Production Supervisor;
Ensure Production Supervisor is notified when run times are incorrect or production will not meet time lines;
Report discrepancies to the appropriate department;
Provide guidance and/or training for apprentices or new employees when required;
Ensure the EDM machines are operational in an unmanned state as much as possible.
Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements;
Ensure ISO guidelines and Mold-Masters policies and procedures are followed.

Basic Requirements:
minimum of three (3) years of experience and/or equivalent training.
Experience in MasterCam or the most currently utilized programming/design software at the machines (ideally utilizing the EDM Module), with a minimum of two (2) year experience and/or training in EDM precision machining.
In addition, the individual in this role must be able to understand programs and paths in order to create or edit existing programs and run as required.
Completion of a General Machinist Apprenticeship would be helpful, but not required.
The incumbent has experience machining components to tight tolerances (5 microns or less) and can work independently.
A strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and excellent organizational skills are required.
