Overview

The Technical Support Engineer will provide technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex equipment. Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering. Provides support to dealers where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature. Works on problems of limited scope. Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arisesrequiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Responsibilities

- Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electromechanical equipment.
- Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software.
- Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering.
- Provides support to dealerswhere the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature.
- Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
- Maintains ongoing dialog with global HQ quality management staff. Engineers are developing professionals, acquiring the skills and experience necessary to become fully proficient in the field of product or process development.
- Performs trend analysis on a Model level. Reviews and participates in the analysis of Canon Inc database information
- Participates in Technical Transfers (new product training opportunities and technical issue conferences) with developers (CINC, EFI, CPP). Assists in the creation of Technical Transfer materials.
- Assists in the development of department's documentation efforts. Reviews/tests procedures issued by Canon Inc./developer or documented by Canon USA. Assists in the creation of Technical Connection documentation.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline required, plus 3 - 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in the field. A note on degree requirements for this title: the term "engineering discipline" refers primarily to a degree in Mechanical, Software or Electrical Engineering, with additional consideration given to candidates who have degrees in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Physics, Biology or Chemistry if they have attended recognized engineering schools or otherwise demonstrate sufficient knowledge of engineering skills.
- Successful completion of at least one industry approved certification levels (examples include A+, Network+, MCP, MCSA, MCSE, CNA and CNE, preferred.
- This position may require the ability to lift and move heavy objects, typically up to 50 lbs., but occasionally may require the ability to lift more than 50 lbs. with assistance.
- The work environment may include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals, lasers, close quarters, narrow aisles or passageways.
