Main Responsibilities

• Manage growing Mechanical Engineering team
• Provide architectural input on current and future instrumentation
• Develop sub-systems for our next generation instrumentation involving electro-mechanical motion, thermal elements, liquid handling, and optics
• Collaborate with team members including Electrical, Software, System/Integration, and Manufacturing Engineers for design input, testing, and manufacturing
• Work closely with vendors/suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure projects stay on schedule
• Design 3D models and generate technical drawings for prototyping and transfer to manufacturing
• Participate in integration of hardware into prototype systems to quickly test, troubleshoot, and iterate designs
• Create and run test plans and generate reports to support testing
• Develop work instructions for assembly and test of sub-assemblies and system
• Lead and perform design reviews for mechanical systems
• Maintain BOM to ensure it is up to date

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Mechanical Engineering, Robotic Engineering or related field ideally with 5+ years of industry or related experience
• Experience managing a small team of engineers
• Rapid prototyping abilities using hand tools, 3d printers, and laser cutters
• Brought products through full life cycle - prototypes to production
• Extensive experience with motion systems (motion controllers, brushless DC motors, brushed DC motors, and stepper motors, linear rails, etc)
• Background with thermal systems and control

• Understanding of fluidic systems and knowledge of traditional components (pumps, tubing, fittings, etc)

• Design for machined metals and plastics and sheet metal - understanding of material and finish selection
• Experienced with Solidworks or related CAD system
• BOM Management

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Solidworks PDM experience
• Experience with PLM (eg Arena) and ERP (eg Netsuite) systems for product management and purchasing
• Experience with ISO 9001 or 13485 quality management for manufacturing and development
• Experience in the medical or biotech industry
• Standard electrical tools (Crimp tools, rework station, soldering iron, etc.)
• Experience with C/C++, Python, Labview

• Travel to Paris Site up to 10%
