Job Overview

Purpose The Team Leader will be expected to take on a leadership role within the engineering team to provide engineering and design services to clients and will coordinate with engineers, project managers, clients and other disciplines to deliver on schedule and on budget projects. Train and mentor junior staff in their office as well as manage workload for the team. Lead engineering and production team through the planning and design of civil engineering projects. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Direction Works closely with the Branch Manager to direct and manage an engineering team in the office. Supervise and be responsible for the overall directions, coordination, and management of an egineering team. Responsible for management of daily plan production of team, schedule, budget, quality control/assurance, collections, and opportunities. Engage, mentor, and motivate junior staff through counsel, guidance, and transfer of knowledge. Plans, schedules, or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects. At the Operational and Company Level Be able to execute through administration, technical and management techniques on multiple projects to ensure the successful completion, on time and within budget. Effectively execute project contracts and develop internal staff. Assist in developing processes and provide input on achieving company and office operational excellence while growing their region and office. Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of programs. Represents the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organizations. Do the Work Applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions Manage competing demands and establish priorities for staff Responsible for client interaction, including preparation of new contract proposals, change orders, attending or leading project meetings. Lead and manage current project teams from bid until completion, while looking to obtain future business and performing own project duties. Mentor and direct junior staff, coordinate with project managers, and responsible for goal setting and performance management of engineering team. Review project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and all other factors, which may significantly affect staffing requirements or budget Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems including field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, detailed review of design computations done by others and general coordination of design aspects. May act as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area. Lead project meetings and makes presentations. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Minimum of ten (10+) years engineering or related land development experience to include a minimum of five (5) years managing multiple complex large scale land development projects (commercial, residential, municipal). Licensed Professional Engineer. Must have demonstrated technical experience with a wide range of civil projects and experience serving clients. A proven track record of innovation, leadership, and creativity. Demonstrated project management and communication skills. Experienced with processing land development projects in relevant counties/municipalities. Thorough understanding of municipal codes and regulations. Thorough understanding of business and financial principles in a consulting business. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to lead and develop an engineering and project management team. Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D design software Proficient technical and computer skills, to include successfully conducting virtual meetings with staff and/or clients.
