WHO ARE YOU?

This position is responsible for the successful implementation and completion of Green Building and Multi-Family Programs. Effectively communicating across multiple departments as well as PEG clients gives this position a unique perspective by overseeing and supporting relevant processes from start to finish to ensure building compliance and sustainability.

The ability to accurately describe the various applicable programs to clients and prospective clients is one of the key attributes needed for the successful candidate. This includes estimating project costs, assisting PEG team members in the completion of site inspections, building energy modeling, and program documentation completion and submission. The qualified individual will have a functional understanding of client perspectives and the roles that other third parties play in servicing the client alongside PEG.

Excellent communication skills with not only the PEG Team but also PEG clients in a respectful manner is a must. As a representative of PEG, the ideal candidate must be presentable, organized, self-motivated, detail oriented, and dependable.

THE ROLE

Job Location:

This position is based in our main office in Fairfax, VA with the option of a hybrid remote/office work schedule after the completion of the employee's 90 Day Performance Review.

Essential Functions:

Lead Design Charrettes and Kickoff Meetings for various above-code programs including NGBS, ENERGY STAR, Enterprise Green Communities, LEED, etc.
Communicate critically with Project Managers about compliance criteria for all applicable building components/subcomponents
Perform Multi Family Home Energy Audits in accordance with RESNET & NGBS Guidelines including but not limited to:
Visual Inspections, data collection, infiltration & duct leakage testing, ventilation testing and building air flow & pressure testing.
Evaluating the installation quality of HVAC systems (HVAC Grading)
Effectively and professionally streamline communication with Field Staff and clients
Assist with Internal Work Process of Field Operations relating to Green Building Department
Conduct superior value engineering energy modeling, given any performance target, by reviewing building plans and specifications to create projected and confirmed energy models per program requirements
Perform advanced data analytics in PEG's HERS Ratings Database
Research and recommend energy efficiency compliance pathways for all residential product types in any region/state/jurisdiction
Assemble extensive special reports for internal and external stakeholders
Understand MINHERS thoroughly, especially Chapters 6 and 9
Develop/refine/optimize SOPs for all teams within the Building Energy Modeling (BEM) Department in an effort to support team members and ensure that their processes are as efficient as possible
Effectively train and delegate work to Sustainability Analysts
Assist with quality assurance file reviews, tracking, and updates
Review received inspection data to ensure all claimed practices and performance results are in compliance with the applicable energy efficient building program. (Ex. Energy Star Multi Family New Construction, NGBS, LEED and LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green and Green Globes.)
Prepare and submit program required paperwork and documentation.
Complete any green building verification service including any necessary paperwork required for internal reporting, data collection, and photographic documentation
Troubleshoot and solve problems on and off site relating to any verification or inspection service
Maintain required credentials for applicable programs.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Energy, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related field is required
1+ years' experience with construction, energy efficiency building codes, green building programs, and building science
Must possess a thorough understanding of the requirements, implementation, and certification processes of various above code and green building programs
Complete knowledge of residential and commercial IECC requirements
Familiarity with building science concepts such as thermal enclosure, building envelope leakage testing, and duct leakage testing
Must have previous experience with energy modeling software such as eQuest, REMrate, Open Studio
Must have strong software experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Must be certified as RESNET HERS Rater
Must be certified as a NGBS Verifier
Must be certified as a RESNET QAD
Must be willing to obtain additional certifications/licenses as required (LEED AP/GA, LEED Green Rater highly desirable)
Must have a Valid Driver's License in good standing with an insurable driving record

Project Management skills are essential and will be necessary to guide projects from start to finish.
Critical problem-solving skills will be vital to improve the company's internal processes.
Must be able to read, write, and comprehend technical instructions enough to be able to convey technical information in plain language
Must have excellent verbal/written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills
Must have expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines or groups and resolve conflicts
Must have excellent reporting skills, attention to detail, deadline-oriented, data entry management, and time management skills
Must be organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and dependable
