WORK HOURS

Normal work schedule is 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with a 1-hour lunch break.


During our busy season, additional hours on the weekend may be required to meet our business. Must be able to attend occasional after-hours events.


SUMMARY

Purchases product, Strategizes prices, contracts with vendors and customers.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for efficient communication, harmonious interaction and support of co-workers and management team members.
  • Analyzes and organizes departmental operations and procedures and coordinates activities between departments.
  • Maximizes office productivity through proficient use of appropriate software applications
  • Conducts weekly meetings with employees.
  • Works with management to plan strategic business objectives and to develop organizational policies and procedures (generates reports to share with mgmt. team on a regular basis).
  • Attends and is involved with various industry associations (i.e. PGANE, NPGA, OHCNH, etc.).

Supply

  • Supervises the ordering of and maintains appropriate inventory levels of fuel
  • Maintains vendor relations and negotiates with them as needed (i.e. fuel suppliers, etc.)
  • Forecasts and analyze supply demand and ensures contracts are met with suppliers
  • Maximizes buying opportunities to make strategic fuel purchases and reduce costs (utilizing electronic pricing platforms as warranted)
  • Update transportation rates as necessary

Pricing

  • Figures and distributes propane and oil prices to keep our profit margin in line with market conditions and company goals.
  • Addresses escalated customer pricing calls and promotes excellent customer relationships.
  • Works with sales dept. regarding neighborhood associations (i.e. pricing, contracts, communication, etc.)
  • Oversees commercial/municipal bids, contracts, renewals, expirations, etc.
  • Works with Hedge Solutions & CMS (hedging) and suppliers to develop and implement price programs for customers.
  • Changes prices in Blue Cow computer software and run reports to identify margin opportunities
  • Evaluates effectives of pricing strategies

Other responsibilities

  • Perform other tasks assigned by manager to provide general support to company operations.
  • Assists in performing tasks of other personnel within the department as needed.
  • Maintains and promotes company brand guidelines and core values at all times.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Supply & Pricing Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

SAFETY Working safely is a condition of employment. Employees shall verbally report and photograph all crashes / injuries to their Manager immediately. If your Manager is not available, report the crash / injury to the Safety Director another Manager, or Human Resource Manager.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree (B.A.) in an Analytical Field (Business, Economics, Engineering etc) or five to six years related experience and/or training.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must speak fluent English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Strong inter-personal and communication skills.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to quickly learn our computer software. Typing skills of 40 WPM.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
