Covia is looking for a dynamic Mine Supervisor who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Junction City, GA location. As a Mine Supervisor, you will coordinate, schedule, and direct environmental activities and direct mining and tailings disposal activities. The successful incumbent will have the following Key Accountabilities: Mining Conduct and analyze routine surveys of the active pit. Analyze core hole data, production needs, and mine survey data to determine weekly mining plans and sequence. Develop the annual stripping plan and budget using surveys, production forecasts, and mine planning data. Oversee stripping operations at the mine. Direct mining operations and plans through Production Supervisors/Operations Manager. Ensure all maintenance & mining personnel are adhering to best safety practices and completing SLAM Risks assessments. Recommend changes in standards, work methods and procedures to improve performance, productivity, and profitability. Recommend equipment and process modifications to improve efficiencies. Maintain open communications with subordinates, superiors, and peers, both verbally and by written report. Responsible for ordering materials as needed for the mine and plant. Other duties as assigned. Environmental Obtain, record, and submit environmental data for permit reporting requirements. Tracks and monitors location audits and follow up to ensure items are completed in a timely fashion. Notify appropriate dept. and employees of any adverse inspections Supports internal customers by serving as subject matter expert in assigned areas by interpreting regulations, providing information to address a customer need and provide guidance in the development of programs, and policy. Develops and delivers environmental training to employees, supervisors, and plant management to support developed programs. Updates safety procedures. Effectively motivate people, to enlist needed cooperation in implementing effective safety programs; ability to manage multiple priorities and work with personnel at all organizational levels. Verify air emissions data and submit routine reports to Georgia DEP. Report and inspect holding tanks per the plant's SPCC Plan. Ability to prepare and/or review detailed technical reports. Ability to prepare and write new plant policies and plans for both internal and external requirements. Lead the plant's Wildlife Habitat Council directing and managing projects. Ensure that the plant follows all applicable state and federal regulations regarding waste disposal (oil, anti-freeze, etc.) air (dust in atmosphere, etc.) and water pollutants, stripping and reclamation laws. Support/lead activities to support all ESG criteria. Perform sampling, measuring, reporting for corporate and government agencies as required to maintain compliance for all water withdrawal and discharge policies and permits.
