ION Solar is looking for a quick-learning and self-motivated structural engineer in training to join our expanding engineering team. At ION Solar, the Design & Engineering Department's primary goal is to create a high-quality, installable product for our customers and installation professionals. We excel in upscaling structural engineering subject matter expertise for structural design and skill set for individual and team development. Position Type: Part-Time. Must be able to work during regular business hours (9-5) for training period

Job Responsibilities:

Assist our licensed Professional Engineer in the oversight of structural review and approvals.
Review and perform structural engineering calculations as needed.
Responsible to learn and master structural engineering subject matter expertise and industry code standards as they relate to PV system installations.
Responsible for performance values of top quality and high efficiency for merit-based growth and company objectives.
Assist in the completion of all necessary structural rework associated with each finished project.
Coordinate and problem-solve with internal departments and field operations to resolve ongoing and new issues, prioritize assignments, handle project escalations, and maintain project timeline expectations.

Job Qualifications:

Enrolled in a 4-year College and majoring in Civil Engineering. Junior or Senior status preferred. Emphasis in structural engineering is also preferred.
Efficiency with construction-related codes and requirements preferred (ie. ASCE-7, IBC, NDS, etc.).
Ability to manage time effectively and make quick accurate decisions.
Ability to communicate effectively with other team members, PV designers, and other operations teams.
Proficiency in drafting related software such as AutoCAD is preferred.
Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Self-driven to bring top performance to the team.
Ability to work in a team as well as work independently.
Detail-oriented individual who can deliver high-quality work.
