Job Overview
Core Accountabilities and Essential Functions
Develop concepts, detailed designs and manufacturing drawings for all components of the Neptune Capsule structure
Perform strength & stability analysis of capsule structural components utilizing closed-form and finite element analysis methods
Contribute to the overall design of Spaceship Neptune including the windows, soft goods, layout, mass properties, contingency scenarios, and testing.
Perform due diligence analysis on designs including requirements review (human rating, regulatory compliance, human interface, etc.), hand calculations, FEA, failure modes, and CAD in a rapid and iterative development environment
Ownership of your product delivery timeline through conception, design, integration, launch and recovery.
Exemplify technical excellence and be accountable for your own work
Required Education and Experience
4-year degree from an accredited college or university in an aerospace discipline.
A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in aerospace structural design analysis.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with aerospace composite structural design and analysis in a design engineering role (internship experience qualifies).
Required Qualifications
Ability to work well in an integrated, fast-paced, dynamic collaborative team environment.
Passion for hands on work including vehicle launch, flight, and recovery operations.
Demonstrated understanding of structural analysis and failure modes.
Demonstrated experience with CAD (Siemens NX, On shape), manufacturing (Fibersim) and FEA (Simcenter3D) software packages.
Hands-on project experience, preferably as a team or sub-system team lead.
Solid understanding and application of GD&T.
Exceptional written and verbal communication with an emphasis on interpersonal and organizational skills.
Willing to work long hours and weekends as needed.
Ability to travel as needed.
