Description:

Perform stress and fracture analysis of spacecraft structural components. Primarily structural stress but a plus would be experience including their dynamic response under flight environments. Experience in FEA (Finite Element Analysis) with NASTRAN/ FEMAP software and hand stress analysis is required. Experience creating FEM's (Finite Element Models) Experience performing classical stress analysis and stress analysis on complex structures is highly preferred. Aerospace specific and NASA experience is preferred as well. Experience in the analysis of composite structures and mechanisms is desired. Experience using FEMAP or PATRAN pre and post-processing software is required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of 5-15 years experience in the analysis of mechanical systems and components at both the conceptual and detail design levels. BSME (Mechanical), BSAE (Aerospace) or related Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university. Ideal candidates will have experience with analysis of composite materials. Also analysis of exotic alloys. Experience with analysis of bonded joints a bit plus. Must have experience with spacecraft/ spaceflight hardware analysis. Must have experience with NASTRAN and FEMAP for analysis and experience in building custom nodal models in FEMAP. Ideally would have exposure and knowledge of 3D modeling packages and translating those models to FEMAP for analysis.
