Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer Systems - Mass Properties to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Clearfield, UT .

You will lead be a technical leader for a small team of mass properties and systems engineers to maximize the performance of advanced composite structures and assemblies and ensure challenging weight targets are achieved.
Responsibilities:
  • Implement and manage a Mass Properties Management and Control Plan
  • Estimate and optimize the weight of an advanced product to maximize vehicle performance and fulfill weight based program metrics
  • Maintain accounting and reporting systems to inform the customer and management of current and projected mass properties trends: including document and manage weight threats and opportunities
  • Collaborate across IPTs reviewing designs for mass property impacts
  • Define procedures for and support mass properties testing of components and assemblies
  • Expand and mature Mass Properties Database
  • Develop MBOMs
  • Support the Systems Engineering team as the subject matter expert for mass properties
  • Participate in and help shape new business pursuits identifying weight management plans and opportunities
Some travel may be required > 10%, to meet with colleagues and customers.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 14 years of related professional/military engineering experience in aerospace environment OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accredited institution and 12 years of engineering experience in and aerospace environment OR PhD and 9+ years of engineering experience in and aerospace environment
  • Experience with Mass Properties of aerospace components and assemblies
  • High level of competency with spreadsheet and other software used for mass properties calculation and tracking
  • Active In-Scope DoD Secret Clearance
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SAP clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • Managerial / Team Lead experience.
  • Earned Value Management experience.
  • Experience with proposals and program captures within the Aerospace and Defense industry
  • Experience with advanced composite and metal aerospace structure design and manufacturing techniques
  • Aircraft Weight and Balance Certification
  • Proficiency NX CAD software and Teamcenter PLM.
  • Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS) experience
  • Systems Engineering Experience

Salary Range: $134,700 USD - $202,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
