This Systems Engineering position is an engineering support role in the Tactical Space Systems Division at Northrop Grumman Space Systems located remotely. The job responsibilities will be as an individual-contributor and deliverable/product lead within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Successful candidate will perform traditional Systems Engineering functions, including requirements synthesis and flow-down, verification/validation planning, system trades study support, systems analysis, coordination of design efforts, and management of technical budgets & interface definitions. Initially this position will be to fill a System Test & Verification role on HALO, but the candidate is expected to be well experienced in a broad range of Systems Engineering skills and to apply those in areas beyond Test and Verification on HALO and/or other programs. The application of these systems engineering tasks will be in the context of Human Exploration and Operations (HEO), Space Logistics, and/or Deep Space missions.
The Staff Engineer will plan, develop and coordinate the conduct of test programs required to verify design work. The candidate will also develop original ideas, elaborate on preliminary and detailed design concepts, evaluate completed designs with their program/functional supervisors and other technical groups, and make the necessary design modifications to achieve the best design within the program constraints.
Candidates should have a strong interest in furthering human spaceflight and growing capabilities beyond Earth orbit. Travel is expected to ramp up over the course of the program, with the potential to be at customer or partner sites at 50% time as the end of the campaign approaches.
Duties :

Duties :
- Develop test and verification plans and procedures for compliance with customer and internally derived requirements
- Evaluate design documentation to provide evidence for requirement verification and hazard control verification closure
- Evaluate design documentation to ensure manufacturability and application of previous lessons learned
- Support mission operation tasks for Launch, Phasing, Rendezvous, Departure, Secondary Activities, and Disposal / Reentry
- Evaluate System Level test results and generation reports & review packages
- Provide support to selected elements of the program Systems Engineering Team
- Support and deliver SE Products and other deliverables, with a focus on mission success
- Develop/implement and communicate solutions to routine Engineering problems
- Provide systems engineering support for technical reviews
- Write status and technical performance reviews, analyses and reports
- Interact professionally with program, functional and customer leadership
- Duties may include requirements flow down, tracking, verification, and the writing of specifications, interface control documents, and engineering reports from advanced studies, special engineering investigations, and similar activities
- May be called on to assist in new business activities, such as conceptual design and analysis for proposals and funded studies, and may include authoring sections for both
- May mentor or oversee more junior engineers
- Bachelor's Degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 14+ years of experience, Master's Degree and 12+ years of experience; or a PhD and 9+ years of experience.
- Experience with architecture development
- Familiarity with electrical & computer systems
- Experience with Systems Engineering process
- Understanding of spacecraft integration & test, launch, and mission operations
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Systems Test planning
- Integration and Test
- Launch campaigns
- End to end testing or validation testing with customers/partners
- Flight hardware inspection planning and execution
- Spacecraft on-orbit operations
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Avionics / Software or Computer Based Control Systems
- Satellite / spacecraft RF Comms or TCR
- Propulsion or fluid handling
- Fault Management and System Autonomy (FMSA)
- Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) leadership experience
- Experience defining requirements & interfaces
- Experience developing verification documentation
- Familiarity with command and telemetry database
- Master's degree in a technical discipline
