Primary Responsibilities:
- Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on users, premises
- Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, Office and other client software
- Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation
- Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems
- Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals
- Monitors log of service calls and corrective action initiated, making recommendations for needed system hardware changes
- Designs and maintains systems documentation and network diagrams
- Works with cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of information technology; assists in the training of other IT personnel to improve their technical skills
- Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems
- Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups
- Provides updates, status, and completion information to problem request tracking system, and/or users
- Replaces defective or inadequate network hardware
- Assesses major hardware problems to service personnel for correction
- Requires travel to different offices throughout the state
- Works directly in support of Systems and Network Engineers to install, support and repair hardware and software
- Covers or Helpdesk when needed including 1 Saturday every 9 weeks
- Makes recommendations to improve security or performance of computers and networks

Required Qualifications:
- Associate Degree (or higher) OR Technical Degree OR 2+ years technical support experience
- Certifications such as Network + (or willing to obtain within 6 months)
- 2+ years' experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- 2+ years' experience with internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software
- 2+ years' experience providing quality service to external and internal customers in person, via telephone and e-mail is critical
- 2+ years' experience with computer networking and VOIP concepts
