Primary Responsibilities:

• Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives on users, premises
• Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, Office and other client software
• Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation
• Responds to client inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems
• Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals
• Monitors log of service calls and corrective action initiated, making recommendations for needed system hardware changes
• Designs and maintains systems documentation and network diagrams
• Works with cross-functional teams in the design and implementation of information technology; assists in the training of other IT personnel to improve their technical skills
• Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems
• Coordinates activities with help desk, network services, or other information systems groups
• Provides updates, status, and completion information to problem request tracking system, and/or users
• Replaces defective or inadequate network hardware
• Assesses major hardware problems to service personnel for correction
• Requires travel to different offices throughout the state
• Works directly in support of Systems and Network Engineers to install, support and repair hardware and software
• Covers or Helpdesk when needed including 1 Saturday every 9 weeks
• Makes recommendations to improve security or performance of computers and networks

Required Qualifications:

• Associate Degree (or higher) OR Technical Degree OR 2+ years technical support experience
• Certifications such as Network + (or willing to obtain within 6 months)
• 2+ years' experience solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• 2+ years' experience with internet software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software
• 2+ years' experience providing quality service to external and internal customers in person, via telephone and e-mail is critical
• 2+ years' experience with computer networking and VOIP concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• 2+ years previous field service installing, repairing, and maintaining computer and network equipment

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
