Successful candidates for this position will work in a lead technical role for a space program in Dulles VA, in the NSS business area within the Space Systems Sector that include technical roles at the mission, segment, and component levels. They span the entire program life cycle from early concept studies, design development, system integration/test, launch and early operations, mission operations/sustainment, and system disposal.
This position will expose the candidate to equal parts technical competency, forward thinking ideas, and execution focus. This position requires a functional understanding of systems engineering as well as a basic understanding of space systems.
This Systems Engineering role is responsible for working the Systems Engineering technical team, which includes the following duties: systems analysis and trades, coordinating Vehicle Systems engineering activities, interface management, requirements/V&V management, subcontractor technical oversight, preparing/presenting SE material. The responsibilities include both individual-contributor and leadership roles, within a multi-disciplined engineering team. In this role, the Systems Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience to assist in design, analysis, and execution efforts.
The candidate will work with cross-discipline team members and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse community of engineers and managers to achieve the goals of the program team.
Basic Qualifications:

- Systems engineering experience in either Geo-communication Satellites product line of NG or equivalent GEO-communication satellites.
- Must have U.S. Citizenship with a current or active Secret level clearance, TS and SCI eligible.
- BS degree in Engineering, Science or related technical field and at least 9 years of applicable experience, an MS Degree and 7 years of applicable experience, or a PhD Degree and 4 years of applicable experience.
