Northrop Grumman is currently seeking a Senior Principal Facilities Engineer to lead the execution and management of facility projects that support both sustaining infrastructure and new program facilitation requirements at our Clearfield, Utah location.

In this position you will plan, design and oversee the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Responsibility includes gathering, reviewing, and finalizing requirements data regarding facility or equipment specifications, required completion dates, and construction feasibility.

Additional Job Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings
  • Prepare Scopes of Work (SOWs) and supporting documents for procurement of design and construction services
  • Reviews and estimates design costs, including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs
  • Inspect or direct the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules
  • Develop strategic replacement plans for outdated equipment to address excessive maintenance, energy efficiency and establish consistency of equipment utilized across the site
  • Design new facility layouts or alterations to existing structures or construction of new structures, this will include navigating building codes and permits
  • Check design deliverables in accordance with industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards
  • Develop schedules, work assignments and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion
  • Coordinate with other engineers and craftsman assigned to the project or a task, and review work progress and results
  • Develop plans to orderly remove old unused structures and equipment as well as plan for replacement of existing old structures to help meet evolving business needs
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation
  • Construction project management skills including monitoring project progress, tracking project costs and meeting project milestones along with final checkout and turnover to operational program
  • Team with other engineering disciplines, management, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure projects are cost effective, within budget, meet the design criteria, meet schedule, and coordinate release and buy off with customers
Basic Qualifications:
  • 9 years' experience with facility engineering experience and Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering degree; or 7 years' experience and MS Degree or 4 years' experience and PhD
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Mississippi Code and Regulatory requirements
  • Experience supporting a large Manufacturing Facility
  • Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources
  • Experience interpreting building and utility drawings and making revisions as required
  • Have applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project) and AutoCAD capabilities
  • Experience using a CMMS, Maximo, or other maintenance software packages
  • AutoCAD drafting ability
  • Solid modeling experience with NX, CATIA, Solid Works, or similar
  • Experience using BIM Software - Revit
  • Ability to work multiple projects and meet their multiple deadlines
Mechanical Engineering (HVAC) Qualifications:
  • Experienced HVAC in general exhaust systems, make-up and Air handler systems for industrial plants and office areas
  • Experience HVAC background in industrial process air and gas flow along with dust collection and material conveyance
  • Design and installation of hydronic systems, including chillers and cooling towers
  • Design of cleanroom systems for filtration control, pressure control, humidity control and temperature control
  • Have skilled application of compressed air systems including compressors, distribution systems and end effect connections, controls and filtration
  • Manage technical overall design and implementation of the building automation systems.
  • Some experience with specialized gasses will be helpful
  • Trouble shooting, MTBF, safety components and failure analysis background helpful
Preferred Process plus Mechanical Engineering Qualifications:
  • Experienced process equipment knowledge including application, implementation and interaction with other process equipment, machining centers or rotating equipment operations
  • Experience with specifying and knowing rotating equipment capabilities and the process that feed and support this type of equipment
  • Have experience with material science and properties including metals, plastics, and composite structures
  • Experience with machining centers from tool and dye size machine shop to industrial size machining and cutting systems including water jets
  • Understanding of general compressed air systems, vacuum systems, water distribution system, natural gas systems, specialized gas systems and general fire suppression elements
  • Trouble shooting, MTBF, safety components and failure analysis background helpful

Salary Range: $98,700 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
