Job Overview
A growing and successful company that develops and manufactures specialty components for use on unmanned and optionally piloted aircraft, is looking to add a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to their growing team of Professionals near Austin, TX.
This position works a 9/80 schedule - receiving every other Friday off.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform detailed mechanical design of EM actuators including:
- Gearing and bearing design and analysis
- Structural analysis
- Analysis and specification of ancillary EM components (clutches, brakes, position sensors, etc.)
- Tolerance stack-up of precision assemblies
- Support proposal efforts in a fast-paced aerospace environment
- Assess customer system level requirements
- Develop derived requirements
- Produce requirements compliance matrix
- Generate engineering models of proposed designs with substantiating analysis balancing rigor and speed
- Contribute to estimating recurring and non-recurring costs
- Contribute to development schedule
- Develop weight and cost estimates
- Creation and ownership of CAD models
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) (structural and thermal)
- Create detailed component and assembly drawings
- Perform basic project management tasks as required
- Generate customer deliverable test procedures and reports (ATP, QTP, QTR, etc.) as well as other data items (structural analysis, reliability predictions) in support of development
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university required
- Master's Degree in Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience required
- Experience operating in an AS9100 (or other structured) quality environment required
- Expertise in CAD design tools required - SolidWorks preferred
- Must be a US Citizen required
Preferred
- Application experience with electric motors used in EM Actuators
- Design familiarity with mechanical power transmission components
- Gearbox housing structural analysis
- Familiarity with system performance tolerance analysis, including
- Structural analysis and weight optimization
- Familiarity with common aerospace materials and process specification and applications
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
