Job Overview

Position Overview:

Navistar Aftersales has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Lead Machinist / Welder / Fabricator. This role consists of fabricating a variety of parts and assemblies consisting of primarily aluminum and some steel and stainless steel. This position will be creating training aids, prototype special service tools, and various other projects that require cutting, welding, and machining skills. Facility is very well lit and clean featuring heat, A/C, and well maintained tooling

Responsibilities:
TIG welding, mainly steel, occasional aluminum
Welding setup for various materials
Use of precision measuring tools to accurately measure, cut, grind, machine metal to specifications.
Create / engineer components as necessary and able to measure and document dimensions to be shared with outside suppliers
Machinery that will be used and maintained daily include: MIG and TIG welders, Plasma cutter, Horizontal and Vertical band saws, sheet metal shear and brake, Bridgeport mill, and metal lathe
Work in accordance with blueprints, samples, specifications, and/or verbal instructions
Prepare sheet metal surfaces for painting or polishing using various grinders, files, and other de-burring/finishing tools
Occasionally required to support other team and facility functions when help is needed
May be required to work individually or in a group setting so communication skills are very important
Must be able to manage time effectively and track time spent on various projects
Minimum Requirements:
Associate's Degree
At least 6 years of experience in planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments to a variety of machines and equipment

At least 8 years of experience in planning, layout, set up, operating and making tool adjustments to a variety of machines and equipment
Additional Requirements:
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills:
MS Office
TIG and MIG welding experience
Plasma Cutting experience
Strong experience with precision measuring tools and be able to accurately measure, cut, grind, machine metal to specifications
Experience working with blueprints
AutoCAD experience / 3D Models
Must be able to create, read, and interpret schematics and drawings to produce conforming parts
Must be able to perform assigned tasks in a safe, timely, and goal oriented manner
Ability to safely, and properly use material handling equipment such as A-frame cranes, forklifts, engine cranes is required
