Job Overview
ROLE SUMMARY
Lead the capital program for PGS, consisting of the following primary elements;
- Manage the execution of the Large Capital portfolio with an average annual spend of $600M
- Own and lead all key large projects (>$50MM) across the network - from feasibility to concept through to Design, Construction, Commissioning & Verification with responsibility for up to 12,000 contractors.
- Lead and provide engineering input, to project set up, resourcing and planning, for all other major projects ($10-50MM)
- Lead a standard approach to project and construction Safety
- Lead a consistent approach to Concept studies and Cost estimating
- Efficient and timely execution of capital projects design and construction in line with the companies Net Zero by 2040 commitment
The role has significant budget responsibility, with a total annual capital spend of $600M
Own, Execute and Deliver All Large Projects in PGS Sustainably
- Directly manage all large projects;
- Projects valued >$50MM
- Typical number of such projects at different project phases is 30-40, with a total value of $5B
- Average annual spend of $600+MM
- Lead these projects from concept design, through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations.
- Support operations in operational readiness and start up.
Provide leadership for all Medium Projects
Establish and lead a GE Capital Project Execution team, focused on critical, medium projects valued at $10-$50MM;
- Provide leadership in the execution of these projects, with a primary focus on the establishment of projects and early design phases, with transition to local site project team.
- Drive close collaboration and partnership with site project teams, to ensure 'one team' execution approach.
Standardized Project Execution
- Drive Project Execution across the network, to be in line with the Capital Project Management Process methodogy
- Drive a consistent approach to feasibility studies and conceptual design and cost estimating
- Design management, construction management, CQV management and Operational readiness
- Establish and manage to key Project metrics
Safety Leadership
- Provide project safety leadership and direction, for all capital projects
- Embed the safety visual standards and standardized safety practices for High Hazard Work
- Establish standardized approach to construction safety and commissioning safety.
Management of External Partners
Lead and grow the partnerships with key service providors such as A&E firms, CQV firms, Construction Management and key equipment vendors.
Stakeholder/Leadership relationship management
- Maintain strong partnerships with Tax, GFSS, GEHS, Strategy, Finance and Procurement.
- Ensure alignment with PGS leadership priorities and strategies.
- Develop project governance and standard reporting
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Min qualification - B.Eng. degree in life sciences or engineering discipline.
- Solid project management fundamental skills of budget forecasting, risk management and project management.
- 15+ years of experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Broad and diverse understanding of the full technical and business processes required when taking an idea from concept to a licensed GMP facility
- Has managed large capital project in excess of $150MM in value
- Experience with large project procurement and construction approaches.
- Commissioning, Qualification, start-up and operational readiness experience within a pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing environment.
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
Preferred
- >10yr experience in direct site operations in production and engineering.
- >2yrs experience in a network leadership role, supporting capital projects on multiple sites in the network.
- Experienced in managing in a matrix organization, and effective in engaging with all other functions and leadership
- Comfortable addressing conflict and difficult situations that are necessary to keep the projects on schedule and also keep colleagues engagement
- Experience with large project procurement and construction approaches.
- Commissioning, Qualification, start-up and operational readiness experience within a pharmaceutical GMP manufacturing environment.
