The Specialist, Technical Support provides advanced technical support and acts as the Engineering interface for the Brother Mobile Solutions (BMS) Division. This position provides engineering technical support for Product Managers, product testing, failure analysis, and servicing of the BMS printers and printer host devices, consumables, and accessories.

Technical Support

  • Act as the technical support interface to the Colorado office
  • Resolve technical issues from calls received directly into BMS and indirectly from Brother call centers
  • Respond to customer inquiries to provide complex technical support that the Level 1 Support cannot provide

Engineering Interface

  • Work directly with Engineering to develop solutions for new support issues; communicate solutions to the customer
  • Function as technical liaison between Brother engineering and customer developers as required
  • Provide interface and interpretation for engineering to customer in defined communication channel

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain call and service records using the internal Brother support management systems
  • Prepare service incident summary reports and FAQ solutions for other levels of the technical support team
  • Document support activities and prepare summary reports and evaluations of support incidents

Testing and Evaluation

  • Perform test activities as required to sustain existing production or support new development and applications
  • Perform activities to gather experimental data needed to evaluate products, problems, and solutions

Interdepartmental Support

  • Demonstrate, evaluate, and maintain BMS products used by the other departments
  • Provide product technical support for other departments needing assistance for setup and demonstrations

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's Degree preferred, preferably in the field of computers and electronics

Experience

  • 3+ years of combined relevant experience working in a technical support role (software/hardware) within commercial or consumer products, and working with various internal company and external stakeholders

Software/Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of multiple desktop and mobile operating systems, including IOS, Android, Windows, Linux
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts and systems
  • K nowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams

Other Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Ability to think analytically and creatively to find solutions and problem resolutions for BMS customer issues
  • Ability to handle mobile devices, printers, small components, power supplies, and cables
  • Ability to become a subject matter expert and provide technical domain expertise to BMS and its customers
  • Ability to build strong relationships, both internally and externally, in order to find solutions to problems
  • Ability to problem-solve through issues with defective applications/printers/installations and then convert those solutions into descriptions that internal and external customers can easily understand
  • Ability to define and escalate issues to the appropriate working authority when necessary
  • Good communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Good presentation skills with the ability to present materials to customers and also internally within the company

This role will be a hybrid role. Subject to business needs, employees may work remotely up to two days per week. Assigned office days will be determined by managers. This role entails occasional travel by air and car.

Compensation and Benefits

  • The annualized salary (or hiring) range for this position is $41,300 - $66,000 per year

  • Starting salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data

  • This position is eligible to participate in the relevant annual Brother Bonus Plan. Bonus awards are contingent upon 1) achievement of your individual objectives and 2) Brother achieving its Corporate and business level objectives
