About Potash
BHP's Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP's first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP's global portfolio. Jansen's large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.
Purpose
The Specialist Maintenance will have an opportunity to learn and develop new skills in the BHP maintenance team that will continue into operations phase. Reporting to the Manager Maintenance Strategy & Planning, the Specialist Maintenance will rotate between different teams in maintenance for a period, to gain experience and knowledge on different aspects of maintenance with occasional visits to the Jansen site.
Rotation includes the following, but not limited to:
Planning & scheduling activities
Systems used for managing maintenance activities
Maintenance strategy creation
Continuous improvement (reliability)
Work instruction creation
Spare parts management
Predictive maintenance
About the Role
For the first 9 months of the role, the Specialist Maintenance will rotate between different areas of the maintenance department as part of an exposure program. They will then transition to a team that best suit their skills, and will have the opportunity to work on tasks. 3 areas of rotation and subsequent roles (potential to change area, pending expertise and experience) will include:
Planning
Defines shutdown objectives, scope and schedules, mobiles shutdown resources, and executes shutdown activities to safeguard production and maintain the safety of maintenance operations at BHP
Prepares for and executes maintenance activities, carries out post execution tasks and eliminates defects to facilitate reliable and efficient maintenance operations across BHP
Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems
Predictive Maintenance
Monitors all asset/equipment parameters to develop a comprehensive portfolio of signs and triggers to monitor and diagnose physical asset health
Translates corporate objectives into actionable plans, communicating, managing and analyzing the implementation of those plans, and reporting back on their progress to facilitate the delivery of our strategy
Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes
Strategy
Develops, optimizes and governs asset/maintenance strategies to drive continuous improvement and replication of best practices across assets and equipment while optimizing value for the long term
Develops comprehensive models for assets, including the planning, acquiring, operating, maintaining, renewing and disposing of assets across BHP
Manages new and existing sets of master data, runs and cleanses reports to remove errors and improve the quality of master data across BHP
Work Location
Downtown, Saskatoon; 40 hours per week, parking is provided on-site.
About You
Technical diploma or degree in engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Relevant experience in maintenance, or a related industry
General understanding of maintenance practices
High attention to detail, motivation, and commitment to learning
Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills
