Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal System Engineer with a hardware and networking background. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.

This position will support Tactical Space Systems Division in their development and deployment of satellite ground software to customer resources. The selected candidate will support hardware and system administration of multiple environments in an Agile / DevOps environment for a critical customer program.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Network Engineering - installing, implementing, releasing new equipment / upgrades
  • OpenStack/storage Architecture - providing guidance to Raptor as well as Raptor customer spaces on designing functional clusters at reduced costs.
  • Data Center monitoring - physically checking the Data Center
  • Network Monitoring - As needed bandwidth, connectivity monitoring using netflow analysis or Nagios monitoring in addition to log analysis of our core network.
  • Openstack troubleshooting - deep diving within the director, controllers, compute nodes to diagnose issues as developers and devops folks utilize the infrastructure.
  • Hardware management - periodically supporting stand up and testing of new hardware being evaluated for use by program or customer spaces for raptor.
  • Raptor Enclave emergency response - respond to on site issues within 30 minutes

Basic Qualifications:

This position may be performed at a level 3 or level 4 engineer depending on the qualifications, skills, and experience of the candidate.

Systems Engineer 3 - Bachelor's Degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 5+ years of experience, Master's Degree and 3+ years of experience.

Systems Engineer 4 - Bachelor's Degree in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 9+ years of experience, Master's Degree and 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience in Network Engineering, Systems Administration, or DevOps.
  • OpenStack with minimum 1 year working experience
  • Must have U.S. Citizenship
  • Knowledge of hardware maintenance and Data Center management practices
  • Experience implementing networking best practices including network routing and firewalls
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience in scripting -I.e. Shell, bash, ruby, perl
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current or active Top Secret level clearance and the ability to obtain SCI level access
  • Experience with Terraform
  • Experience automating routine procedures using Ansible
  • Extensive Experience with OpenStack
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps principals
  • CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) DoD 8 570.01-M IAT Level II Certification
Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
