Job Overview



We are seeking a dynamic Software Test Architect to join our Sustainable Automation Solutions Research Group and support our Siemens business units and end customers in the US. The right person will have a strong technical background in software development and testing combinedwithpassion for working with customers and solving challenges in manufacturing industries with innovative solutions!
The Challenge
In the role as Test Architect, you will

Develop and test applications for the Siemens Industrial Edge platform and devices tailored to factory and building automation challenges

Validate functionality of modules in research projects and coordinate product-grade testing activities globally

Derive suitable test architectures, automate the testing and software development processes

Design, implement, test, optimize, and document software components as well HW setups for stability, usability and performance

Assess technical feasibility of potential customer co-creation projects, reusing existing product- and research-grade components, derive gaps and define new modules
Perform complex hardware and/or software design consultation in accordance with customer/project needs

Respond to support, debugging and development requests from the team, as well as internal and external customers based on in-depth understand of software architecture and code base of existing components

Work with a team of Software Engineers and Research Scientists to bring complex and innovative automation solutions to life

The Candidate
Qualified candidates will have:

BS required in Computer Science / Electrical Engineering / related fields.
MS is a plus.

8+ years of hands-on experience in software development and HW/SW testing

Strong experience in Requirements Engineering, Test Frameworks and methodologies

Understanding for NFRs, capability to derive NFRs and prioritize from customer and domain expert interactions

Proficiency in common software development processes and architectures
Experience with unit testing libraries

Knowhow of standard industrial machine vision communication (e.g. RTSP, Genicam, Onvif standards) and machine vision applications

Systematic thinking, structured approach to problem-solving and experimental design and documentation

Real-world problem solving and a hands-on, can-do attitude

Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication (verbal & written) skills in English required. Capable of presenting complex technical topics in a clear and structured way
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a growing, dynamic and international team with a strong customer service orientation
