Job Summary

Software Engineer (Cloud Engineering)

As a Software Engineer, you will work as part of a team responsible for building NetApp's cutting-edge software defined storage solutions for major Cloud providers including AWS, Microsoft Azure and GCP. As part of the Research & Development function, the group focusses on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. The software engineering team focusses on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development, focused on a microservices based architecture. You will be responsible for developing software features for the product, as well as tests to validate the code in Kubernetes environments in the cloud

What you will do
  • Research, design and develop data protection features and microservices for the product, specifically focused on Kubernetes in the cloud
  • Collaborate with peers within the team as well as cross-functional partner teams to resolve technical dependencies and work on joint efforts to develop features
  • Participate as a proactive contributor and subject matter expert
  • Responsible for unstructured tasks where the problem statements are less defined, thus requiring new perspectives, creative approaches and resolving interdependencies
  • Operate under limited supervision and direction to drive results and set priorities independently
  • Successfully convey information to stakeholders at many levels related to the position
  • Work effectively with senior engineers within the Business Unit


Job Requirements

Basic Skills
  • 3-5 years of strong software development background and hands-on programming experience in Python, Go or any equivalent, complex programming language (JAVA, C++, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience working with Cloud technologies (GCP, Azure, AWS) with ability to triage and troubleshoot in such environments
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment and demonstrate initiative in driving unstructured tasks
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technology
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred
  • Experience in microservices/containerization via Docker and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
  • Knowledge in virtualization, data storage and data management technologies
  • Have a strong understanding of system and networking concepts and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional, global and remote teams with diverse backgrounds

Education

Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
