The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and automating self-service modules for Zebra's SW Development Tooling Platform. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with engineers, business stakeholders, and solution vendors to achieve automation coverage across the platform.

The candidate should have experience with automating tasks and either developing internal applications or custom integrations. In addition, they must also be familiar with agile methodology values & principles and be current on industry best practices for DevOps.


Responsibilities:
  • Establishes requirements & design for internal software development platform supporting Zebra engineering activities. Implements automation wherever possible.
  • Maintains & improves internal engineering portal. Prioritizes features to insure the most important get implemented.
  • Establishes new and improves existing automation for self-service request modules used by Zebra Engineers to reduce the number of manual support requests our shared services team have to process.
  • Participates in code reviews and identifies bad sections early in the process so they can be recaptured.
  • Completes all phases of moderately complex software design projects. Carries out all in-process and final inspection activities.
  • Develops and tests documentation for software projects/services.
  • Considers latest technologies and new approaches to designs. Completes implementation of new designs/technologies.
  • Reviews changes or updates to existing software designs. Develops new technology to solve unique problems as needed.
  • Provides recommendations and solutions to problems using experience in multiple technical areas.
  • Applies existing technology in new ways to improve performance and productivity.
  • May develop new tools/services to aid in the analysis and solving of problems.
  • Drives the adoption of development standards around source control, unit testing, and continuous integration.
  • Exercises judgment & critical thinking in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
  • Influences the activities of junior level team members.
  • Networks with team members, internal engineers, stakeholders, and external partners/vendors in own area of expertise. Frequent inter-organizational and external vendor interactions.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with 6+ years of experience
  • Proficient with Java, Java Script, PHP, Python, JSON, XML, HTML5, Groovy.
  • Adept in SQL and NoSQL languages, stored procedures, and writing efficient enterprise scaled queries (selects & updates).
  • Proven deployment and implementation of a CI/CD system using Jenkins/Git/GitHub
  • Actions/Artifactory other similar tools. Must be able to work with YAML.
  • Working experience with REST API web integrations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The candidate should be comfortable working in both Windows & Linux systems.
  • Familiar with code analysis tools such as Sonarqube, KlocWork, Coverity etc.
  • Familiar with configuration management and containerization tools such as Ansible, Chef, puppet, docker, docker compose, Kubernetes, & cloud-based solutions such as Google cloud, AWS.
  • Strategic thinking, strong written, oral and presentation skills.
