Job Overview
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for the Site Manager position at the Air Separation facility in Santa Clara, CA.
This position will provide operating and leadership support to the Air Separation, Maintenance, and Distribution Teams supplying both Pipeline and Liquid Bulk customers. This position will report to the West Region Line Manager.
The Santa Clara Facility consists of multiple operating units including:
(3) Air Separation Units (ASU)
(1) Product Liquefiers
(2) Product Purification Units, Argon and Oxygen
(2) Customer Located Low-Capacity Nitrogen Generators (HPN Plant)
(1) Hydrogen transfill for the H2fM (hydrogen for mobility) market
Distribution Terminal including:
Terminal Supervisor
Professional Driving Team
Vehicle Maintenance Technicians
Argon Railcar trans-load facility receiving Argon from another Air Products facility
Large volume of Liquid Storage with a complex pipeline backup system
70-Mile High Purity Nitrogen Pipeline feeding key customers throughout the area
Nitrogen compressed gas is transported via pipeline, which is connected into a central pipeline header traveling through metropolitan area. In addition, liquid Oxygen, Mega Class Oxygen, Nitrogen, BHY, Pure Argon and Crude Argon are produced or received to support a significant Liquid Bulk business within the region.
The Santa Clara Site Manager will have broad responsibility supporting the Regional Line Manager. This role administers all phases of the facilities 24x7 operation and distribution to satisfy customer needs in a safe, environmentally conscience, and efficient manner. The manager is responsible for the maintenance, project execution, equipment reliability, HR issues, leadership, resources, cost control, asset management, and alignment with regional business needs. This role will also collaborate with local customers and is expected to maintain and develop good relations within the greater Santa Clara area.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
Leadership of the Basic Safety Process with responsibility for the site's overall safety performance.
Handle environmental and regulatory standards including the timely completion of all EH&S compliance requirements.
Support all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including process review, handling daily plant operation and distribution activities, and all reporting requirements.
Provide leadership to site supervisors and engage regional support resources to achieve productivity and improvement targets in all areas.
Lead, motivate, and support individual and team growth through engagement and career development planning.
Identify maintenance concerns and implement corrective or preventative measures.
Maintain strong customer relationships and ensure all products and services meet superior performance expectations while achieving all contractual specifications.
Candidates will be evaluated based on the following:
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent (engineering background a plus)
10+ years of industrial / supervisory experience in similar plants or operations of similar complexity (Air Separation experience a plus)
Demonstrated managerial leadership and interpersonal skills
A track record of success in Safety, Environmental, and Quality
A strong commitment to employee engagement, team building, and diversity
A track record in driving continuous improvement
Strong communication and organizational skills
Community engagement experience would be helpful in this role
