We're looking for Sheet Metal Shop Mechanics to grow with us. Our Sheet Metal Mechanics perform various tasks in the Company's fabrication shop in the production and shipment of sheet metal products for use at both Company and Non-Company job sites.
A typical day includes:
Fabricating, assembling, and repairing sheet metal products and equipment, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings
Operating fabricating machines to cut, bend and straighten sheet metal.
Operating welding equipment to join sheet metal parts.
Inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.
Knowing shop concepts, use of tools, equipment operation and how they are applied to: duct and fitting layout; fabrication of duct; use of triangulation; welding of grease duct, security bars, volume dampers and light steel; applying insulation and sound line; and specialty metal work to include breaking metal and unusual fittings requests.
Pulling necessary materials from inventory and maintaining accurate inventory records.
Maintaining accurate records of machinery repairs and service to include date performed and repair or service required
Practice "Safety First" at all times to include: wearing the proper PPE when operating machinery and reporting unsafe conditions to management and coworkers.
Following all Company policies including those related to punctuality, attendance, and smoking.
Physical Demands:
May have to stand for several hours at a time to operate machinery.
May have to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the workday.
Must have the physical capacity to communicate in order to operate machinery safely and maintain a safe work environment for self and all coworkers.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience operating a Vulcan plasma table, Vulcan Waterjet,and IPI Coil Line
2+ years working in a sheet metal fabrication shop
High school degree or equivalent
