Job Overview
We are expanding our Pico Family and would love to have you join our team! We are seeking a dedicated CDL certified Service Technician to work at our Carlsbad location. The Fuel Delivery Driver / Service Technician will play a crucial role in providing propane and refined fuel deliveries in a safe and efficient manner, with a key focus on customer satisfaction. In addition, this unique opportunity will also offer responsibilities with installation, repair, and maintenance of propane/fuel equipment, in a growth-oriented environment.
To ensure success, one must have a willingness to multitask, a passion for customer service and the aspiration to be involved with building a local business. This will require excellent communication skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges and the ability to execute on identified solutions. Above all else, personal safety and the safety of our customers must take on the highest priority.
This position will support our Pico Propane and Fuels location in Carlsbad, NM.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Propane / Fuel Delivery Driver -
Complies with all city, state, and federal regulations
Loads, secures, transports, and delivers propane and fuel to residential/commercial locations
Performs pre and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation of hazardous materials
Maintains and completes accurate records by documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, and miles driven in compliance with all DOT regulations
Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety
Ensures that delivery vehicle receives service according to maintenance schedule; reports larger service needs and mechanical issues to supervisor
Upholds excellent company representation standards and equipment presentation
Works to exceed customer expectations through effective communication and service
Ensures customer safety through prefill inspections, awareness and system testing, as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned
Service Technician -
Travels to customers' homes or place of business
Prep, stage and Installs tanks for new customers
Repairs equipment such as LP Furnaces, Water Heaters, LP appliances
Suggests areas where equipment should be set up Site surveys
Troubleshoots problems with existing equipment
Tests old and new installation along with testing connections
Provides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipment
Maintains equipment and cleans up after the job is complete
Records and maintains stock levels
Maintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicle
Performs all other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proven work experience as a Fuel Delivery Driver and Licensed Service Technician
Advanced knowledge of propane (LP) systems
Ability to obtain the NM LP-3 propane certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)
Ability to obtain the NM Class 5 (service and installation) certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)

Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite

Education, Certification, Licenses Required:
High school diploma or equivalent required

Physical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:
The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 80 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.
Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shift
Good hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.
Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and arms
Must be able to speak and hear
Position is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company provider
Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. airborne particles
