The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Manager to lead the Hardware Software Integration (HSI) Mission Systems Avionics Integration & Verification/Test (I&V I&T) teams supporting the Space Launch System (SLS) Core Stage (CS) and Exploratory Upper Stage (EUS) Programs in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a world-class system engineering team and system engineering products to support design, development, integration, test analysis, and verification of the SLS CS and EUS Avionics System, keeping the program executing for the foreseeable future. You will be a leader of a high-performance systems engineering team interacting with customers, suppliers, program management, avionics integration and test engineers and senior technologists. The successful candidate will integrate the activities of the Avionics Mission Systems team deployed across the SLS CS and EUS programs to assure a strong system engineering approach to meet the technical performance requirements and assure mission success. Position reports the Boeing Space and Launch Systems Engineering, Integration and Test director. Position Responsibilities: Qualified candidate will lead and manage a team of system engineers deployed on this critical NASA program and perform following responsibilities: Responsible for HSI Avionics Mission Systems (AV-MS) Integrated Analysis and Test efforts including L level manager direct reports, CAMS, EVM/Finance, project planning and IMS scheduling responsibilities for all HSI-MS Control Accounts. Reports programmatically to the HSI IPT Lead. Reports functionally to the Space and Launch SEIT Lead. Briefs AV MS status and performance to plan (PTP) to Core Stage PMR/PTP, FMR, Avionics Review Board (ARB), Avionics Integration Meeting (AIM), EUS PMR/PTP, FMR, Plan for Week (P4W), and NASA Executive Stages Control Board (ESCB) and Avionics Stages Control Board (ASCB) venues. Briefs and represents HSI AV-MS in program level PCCB, Staffing, Scheduling and Finance matters. Leads a Test Like You Fly (TLYF) differences assessment supported by AV-MS, Modeling and Simulation, Hardware SMEs, Software SMEs, and SEIT to identify, summarize and report out the implications of the differences between the SLS HW/SW functionality to the V&V plan for major test events including Flight Test, Static Fire (Green Run), integrated avionics tests and final integrated build test. Develops and executes plans and actions with the Hardware/Software Integration IPT to conduct TLYF assessments using Performance to Plan methods. Leads development of all SLS Avionics-wide SE Verification artifacts (VCR/VCN/DVOs) for CS and EUS stages. Leads the Avionics System Integration Panel (ASIP) for development and mitigation of Avionics Problem Reports (PR), including coordination with NASA ASCB. Provides leadership over planning, scheduling, risk management and opportunity capture activities for the AV-MS team, by leading the HSI Risks, Issues & Opportunities (RIO) Board. Works with teams across a diverse set of engineering skills, and across all aspects of the SLS program to ensure that system objectives are being met. Leads a diverse team of Avionics Technical Lead Engineers (TLE), electrical architecture & diverse Sub-System Discipline Integrators to assess/verify SLS avionics performance. Coordinates HSI Avionics Staffing support for SLS CS and EUS system-level test events, including Avionics Sub-System Qual at Marshall MSFC SITF-Q, Stage Functional Tests at Michoud (MAF), EUS Green Run at Stennis (SSC), and Wet-Dress Rehearsal & Day-of Launch (DoL) at KSC NASA facilities. Management Duties Include: Plan and manage program SEIT work scope (Cost, Schedule, Technical Quality). Coach, counsel, mentor and provide developmental opportunities for employees Perform employee performance management, hiring, retention, awards/recognition, and goal setting Execute to program staffing, hiring, critical skills, and employee development plans Supporting critical program staffing and redeployment activities, and identification of Systems Engineering strategic skills Development and execution of a robust training and development plan Development of employee engagement activities to motivate and engage the workforce The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee The position does require the ability to pass a background check appropriate for access to NASA facilities Basic (Required) Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics. 10+ years of systems engineering, systems integration, software engineering, electrical engineering, certification, network security and/or cybersecurity 5+ years of management experience with including managing teams spread across multiple locations Preferred (Desired) Qualifications: Experience working with NASA programs.
