Responsibilities and Duties
The following are considered as main roles and responsibilities of Structural Engineer I/II for Civil/Structural/Architectural (CSA) Projects:
- Provide Conceptual Design of Structural Supports
- Prepare Structural Calculations and Analysis
- Structural Loading Calculation per all applicable Codes and Regulations (ASCE 7-16, IBC, etc.)
- Static Analysis
- Dynamic Analysis
- Steel Structure and Connection Design
- Foundation and Retaining Wall Design
- Concrete Design
- Masonry, and timber Design
- Provide Structural Design Sketches for Designer/Drafter with AutoCAD
- Perform with walkdowns and site visit of existing facilities.
- Review existing conditions and as-builts drawings and collect and record data and documentation
- Review customer & vendor information from subcontractors and integrate it into the design solution.
- Perform Structural Observation
- Execute to schedule requirement while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.
- Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.
- Travel up to 25% of the time to customer and project locations to coordinate designs with team and collect data and information
Qualifications and Skills
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering OR Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural engineering, plus minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in Structural Steel and Concrete Design
- Experience Dynamic Analysis (Response Spectrum, Time History, and Transient)
- Good written and verbal communication skills essential
- Previous related internship experience a plus but not necessary
Must have a working knowledge and practical experience in the following applications:
- RISA 3D
- MathCAD
- Excel
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office
Knowledge of the following software applications are ideal but not required:
- SAP2000
- ANSYS
- Program Language, Excel VBA, MatLab or Python
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to break down technical concepts and communicate fundamentals to staff
- Ability to manage priorities with minimal guidance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience seismic Risk Analysis
- Finite Element Analysis
- Experience executing engineering and design with Revit
Require Education and License Registrations
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural engineering, plus minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
- PE or SE license in State of California
