Position Summary
The Senior Solutions Engineer - DBA will provide technical leadership over database administration, database server architecture and emerging database technology. This role reports to the Director of Enterprise Data Architecture.
Primary Accountabilities
- Plan and conduct database architecture assessments that examine DBMS and database configuration and performance. Research and provide recommendations for a database technology roadmap, including cloud, on premise, and hybrid solutions
- Lead effort to secure data assets across the enterprise, working with risk and information security to develop and implement data security policies as required
- Implement and support database servers, backups and recovery, Disaster Recovery planning, patches and upgrades. Conduct periodic tests as needed.
- Participate in system architecture reviews of new or existing data applications developing guidelines and enterprise standards for data management and security
- Design and manage data systems to support real-time integration and advanced analytics
- Provide leadership and mentoring of database development best practices and standards
- Manage database aspects of our application installations and releases.
- Manage adherence of third party vendors and team members to standards in securing, developing, modeling, and structuring data.
- Determine performance bottlenecks, application bugs, and opportunities to improve efficiency. Analyze database activity to identify improvements in indexing, file structure, maintenance processes, and query performance.
- Develop and maintain system architecture and support documents.
- Maintain and expand expertise in one or more technical skills through continuous self-study, training, and certifications.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- MS or BS in related technology field.
- 9+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing enterprise databases and data systems, including Oracle and SQL Server
- Advanced skills in SQL coding and development
- Advanced expertise in managing data systems on Red Hat Linux and/or UNIX.
- Expertise in various scripting languages, like Perl, Python, Bash, Batch
- Experience with designing and managing database security, encryption and authentication.
- Experience managing data models in tools, like Embarcadero or Erwin.
- Any of these would be desirable:
- Knowledge of data integration tools such as Informatica Cloud or MS SSIS
- Knowledge of SAS BI and MS Power BI platforms
- Experience in ITIL or other formal SDLC methodologies and governance practices
- Database certifications, like OCP, MCSA, MCSE and security certifications
