Position Overview:
A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of relevant engineering concepts and wealth of experience to energy consulting projects, such as completing energy audits, retro-commissioning (RCx) studies, project development for capital energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, and to resolve a variety of technical issues our clients face.

This team member will work with, and in some ways lead, a high performing team on exciting energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainability consulting projects.

This job is for the fully qualified, career-oriented engineer who has shown success as Project Engineer or Project Development Engineer.

The current position will be working in New York, NY. Must be open to traveling as needed for projects in New Jersey and Long Island area.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead completion of energy audits and retro-commissioning of various facilities including higher education, commercial, healthcare, industrial and municipalities
Identify energy conservation projects that include both capital and operational measures
Analyze data from temporary data loggers, permanent submeters and fault detection diagnostic software to develop projects
Troubleshoot faulty systems and provide recommendations for corrective actions
Perform calculations of energy savings and help develop calculation templates
Prepare project implementation cost estimates
Prepare technical reports and presentations and assist in presenting to clients and senior leaders
Ensure that savings projects for identified projects are plausible and financial risk is identified
Experience with ongoing measurement and verification of projected energy savings is a plus
Conduct investment grade audits (IGAs) for energy projects in order to develop detailed scopes of work and solicit bids for fixed cost pricing from vendors to implement measures selected by the client
Attend jobsite meetings and field surveys as required
Partner with Project Managers and to complete projects to ensure timely client deliverables
Work with national clients to help achieve sustainability goals
Develop and train Project Engineers and Associate Project Engineers
Essential Functions:
In depth knowledge of HVAC systems (steam, air and water distribution systems, etc.)
Field experience with HVAC systems - boiler, chillers, air-handlers, etc.
Experience in estimating HVAC and other energy project costs a plus
Experience in financial analysis of various energy projects
Experience in measurement and verification of projected energy savings
A willingness to learn and work in a team environment with extensive contact with clients
Ability to work autonomously and independently on tasks once properly trained by team
Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Power Point)
Ability to travel up to 30%
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel
Actively pursues technical development in areas relevant to project/team needs
Shares knowledge via team trainings upon request
Assists with tool development without guidance
Presents results to customers
Drives repeat business through excellent work; sales support as needed
Requirements:
5-15 years of experience in the energy, commissioning and/or retro-commissioning field
BS in engineering or higher
EIT/PE License
Valid driver's license is required
Preferences:
LEED AP, CEM, and other technical certifications a plus
Project development and implementation experience a plus
Client facing communication skills
Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise
Business development skills and contributions with new and existing clients
Work Environment:
Regular professional, office business setting
