Job Overview

Clayton Services is searching for a Senior Process Engineer to join a thriving renewable energy company in Houston. The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for utilizing and furthering the design methodologies for the organization's technology system.


Job Type: Direct Hire

Pay: $120,000-$150,000 + bonus

Senior Process Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Process design implementation reviewing, equipment sizing, equipment data sheets, systems engineering, PFD/P&ID for consistency
  • Process simulation modeling in Aspen/HYSYS or similar software and development of specialized modeling tools specific to the organization's technology system
  • Collaborate with process control specialists to develop DCS control narratives and system logic narratives
  • Participate in hazard analysis, operability, and constructability reviews
  • Support the development of operating guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain design procedures and tools
  • Provide technical support for detailed engineering, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and plant operations.
  • Collaborate with project managers to achieve schedule and deliverables commitment
  • Support the growth of the organization's intellectual property related to its technology
  • Other duties as assigned

Senior Process Engineer Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering is required
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required
  • Well-versed in engineering workflows and project delivery from both client and vendor perspectives
  • Well-established process engineering skills including PFD, PID, sizing, modeling, technical design, and oversight
  • Experience with thermal integration of varied process technologies is preferred
  • Functional and familiarity working with major process units, fluidized beds, solids handling systems, biomass conversion, steam methane reforming, oxycombustion, carbon capture, fuels/methanation synthesis, reactions, and Fischer-Tropsch is desirable
  • Knowledge of new and Client chemical processes is a plus
  • Experience with plant operations is a plus
  • EPC experience is required
  • Other relevant formal training including HAZOP, HAZID, and Project Management is plus


Senior Process Engineer - This is an excellent direct hire opportunity. The position pays $120,000-$150,000 per year plus a bonus, depending on experience.
