YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, are to:

• Maintain an understanding of plant operations, attend project reviews and review management of changes for assigned manufacturing area to determine environmental impact on an independent basis;
• Ability to read, interpret, plan, and implement a new, major regulatory requirement;
• Ensure regulatory reports, permit applications, etc. are submitted in an accurate and timely fashion, prepare permit applications in a way that provides maximum flexibility in plant operations;
• Completes accurate engineering calculations to support environmental emissions reporting and for permit applications, and reviews same information from supporting team members;
• Provides key equipment support for the maintenance of area process operations; identifies, evaluates, specifies, and selects process equipment to ensure the reliable and safe operation of the assigned assets;
• Ensure the operability, reliability, and integrity of the assigned assets;
• Manage larger, complex turn arounds of the assigned assets;
• Support the coordination and scheduling of assigned plant safety and reliability inspections, review results and support plan, design, and execution of necessary repairs and/or modifications to resolve discrepancies identified by the Mechanical Integrity group;
• Lead and participate in root cause analysis, asset criticality analysis and failure mode and effect analysis studies to improve reliability of the area equipment;
• Evaluate materials of construction of process and utility equipment to improve reliability and performance;
• Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing equipment and process modifications to eliminate deficiencies and bottlenecks;
• Responsible for troubleshooting asset and process problems;
• Works with OEM suppliers, local vendors, and the stores to develop appropriate sparing strategies, while effectively utilizing Bayer resources;
• Ensures compliance with safety and environmental requirements and engineering standards regarding equipment and material technology;
• Complies with site safety rules and actively works to improve safety through coaching or engineered improvements;
• Develop and maintain the following equipment documentation: equipment descriptions, spare parts, equipment lists, histories, manuals, flowsheet documentation, drawings, etc;
• Provide equipment specific technical training on the operation and maintenance of process equipment in process operations; supports startup of unit operations; improves equipment reliability and performance to enable best practices in site operations;
• Foster experience exchange and promotes knowledge transfer with other Plant Engineers;
• Promote continued development of self and area personnel through peer coaching and providing constructive feedback;
• Support Site and Area Production System improvements, OnePSS.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with seven years of progressive engineering experience, or Master's Degree with five years of progressive engineering experience;
• Strong written & verbal communication skills, ability to work independently and to contribute on collaborative projects;
• Ability to make recommendations and independent decisions;
• Demonstrate ability to influence a team.
