Overview Fulfills a key technical leadership role on product development projects leading to the development, commercialization and industrialization of new and improved LAN products, in accordance with ISO 9001 and Leviton Network Solutions processes. Responsibilities Provide technical leadership to the Product Development department. Lead and/or participate in copper cable development projects. Design and develop new and/or improved LAN cables. Maintain expert understanding of the effect of cable design and process parameters on cable's electrical response. Develop and maintain an expert proficiency in the effect of cable and cabling performance parameters on overall digital systems performance. Provide technical support to the Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Sales departments Develop, maintain and apply expert knowledge of materials and processes utilized in the manufacture of products in the cable industry. Develop procedures and equipment specifications consistent with state-of-the-art electronic characterization of electronic cable employed in digital applications. Prepare periodic project and activity reports indicating progress of projects relative to plan. Prepare and deliver presentations to management on projects and R&D efforts as assigned. Conduct industry studies and competitive analyses within the industry to ensure Leviton Network Solutions remains at competitive level in the cable industry. Accomplish the established objectives in areas of safety, quality, cost, delivery, and environment. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor of Science in Engineering required; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, preferably within the wire and cable industry. Skills & Abilities Demonstrated technical leadership in cross-functional, multicultural team environment and ability to understand and apply technical concepts. Expert knowledge of electronic/RF test equipment used in the development and production of LAN cable products. Experience in RF or microwave theory or systems design. Ability to utilize experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is afforded with little reliance on direct supervision. Solid experience in statistical principals, software programming and tools, product development processes, verification and validation techniques. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Have a winning attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment Leviton is an EEO/AA Employer.
