What You Will Be Doing
  • Generate novel concepts, design new product mechanisms, sub-assemblies, and packaging.
  • Perform rigorous and in-depth engineering analysis; generate detailed designs, drawings, and documentation packages.
  • Identify and select new technologies and vendors, outsource parts and assemblies (off the shelf components, custom items, and fabricated parts)
  • Must be Hands on; assemble, troubleshoot, debug, and qualify subsystems and components. Resolve design issues as appropriate.
  • Clearly express and document ideas, options, problems, issues, test results, etc.
  • Develop the required documentations for transfer to production (models, detail drawings, diagrams, BOM, assembly procedures, etc.). Generate detailed, and thorough documentations.
  • Ensure meeting the specs, schedules, and the budgets.
  • Support to manufacturing after product release.
  • 10-15% travel to company sites and support customer sites and installs.
What You Need for this Position
  • A BSME/MSME or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • 7++ years design experience with capital and or process equipment as well as small products with mechanisms and robotics automation.
  • Best candidates are key contributors with proven experience having completed a minimum of two product life cycles from concept to production.
  • Experienced user of SolidWorks CAD, PDM and/or Creo, Windchill.
The top 5 technical "must haves" are:
  • SolidWorks experience, Solid Modeling, FEA analysis, etc.
  • Familiar with new product development/ release
  • Very familiar with motion control (i.e.,, motor types, connections, drive systems, sensors and etc..
  • Attention to detail, work procedures, detailed drawings, GD&T understanding,
  • Ability to drive a project to completion.
  • Machining practices experience
  • Electro-mechanical experience
  • Motor drive programming
  • Mentoring Skills
  • Plastic injection mold design
Experience In The Following
  • Engineering analysis and familiarity with analysis tools; FEA, DFX and etc..
  • Tolerance stock up analysis (GD&T).
  • Strong designing skills in robotics, mechanisms for automation, and complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Extensive machine design experience
  • Experience with precision moving parts and complex mechanism and assemblies, is required.
  • Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication processes for metals and commonly used plastics.
Big Pluses
  • Experience integrating industrial design and human factors in design is desired
  • ISO 9000, ISO 13485, and FDA/cGMP
  • Ability to supervise, mentor and lead junior engineers and project teams
  • Sheet metal and plastic injection design experience
  • Manufacturing Processes with Injection Molding, Extrusion, Metal Forming & Stamping
