We are currently seeking a talented and team-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineer to add to our team. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and fielding high tech capital equipment, which is cost effective, manufacturable, reliable, and serviceable. This is a great opportunity to be part of a world class design team, creating the fastest 3D metal printer in the world!


Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of machine design: writing specifications, scoping, estimating cost and duration of projects, concepting, analysis, detail design, building, testing, and releasing.
  • Produce excellent documentation including design reviews, detail & assembly drawings, lab reports, and ECOs.
  • Translate the requirements of scientists and engineers from diverse disciplines into useful fixtures anda world class product.
  • Find and engage with vendors.
  • Test and troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Use your strong verbal and written communication skills to define problems and get buy-in for solutions.
  • Use SolidWorks Simulation tools to analyze designs - stress, heat transfer, motion, CFD, vibration, etc.
  • Lead less experienced engineers and designers.


Skills/Qualifications:

Required:

  • Machine Design.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • SolidWorks and PDM.
  • Medium volume (100s to 1,000s) fabrication materials & techniques.


Preferred:

  • 3D metal printers.
  • Packaging optics and/or lasers.
  • Automation.
  • Vibration.
  • Heat transfer & fluid flow.
  • Plumbing, cabling.
  • Design for high purity.
  • Design for high temperature.
  • Design for high precision.
  • Metallurgy.
  • Metal powders.
  • FMEA.
  • CE Mark.

Education/Experience:

Required:

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering.

5+ years machine design experience.


Travel:

Expectation is up to 15%.
