Located in San Leandro, CA we are a multiple award winning product manufacturing start-up creating products on demand using cutting edge 3D printers. We are looking for a sharp Senior Mechanical Engineer with manufacturing automation experience to focus on our strategic hardware plan.

In this role, you'll be closely collaborating with the industrial design and production teams to improve our existing hardware as well as develop the hardware that will take us to the next level in the consumer product space. You'll be expanding and automating our factory through AI, computer vision, robotics and other cutting edge manufacturing techniques.

Job Details

• Driving automation projects successfully to completion
• Using a problem solving approach (e.g. - Shainin, 6-Sigma, 5 whys, etc) to identify root causes and to implement solutions to identify root causes and to implement solutions that continuously improves automation system reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborating with the manufacturing, industrial design teams to implement solutions that continuously improve the manufacturing process yield and equipment reliability
• Collaborating with external vendors, design, develop, and implement the automated and robotic solutions that significantly improves the productivity of manufacturing factory.
• Conduct tests to ensure the solutions developed are robust, operate safely and meet the intended functional requirements prior to implementation in digital manufacturing factory.
• For each automation project, provide cost / ROI estimates and project schedule.

MUST HAVE, experience with MAJORITY of the following

• Project management, problem solving, designing, building and testing and installing high-productivity automation / robotics systems
• Automation / robotics including electronics, hydraulics, mechatronics, advanced mathematics, safety, computer / automation software, etc
• Writing software and programming automated systems (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc. solutions)
• At least one CAD software system (Autodesk, Solidworks, etc.)

NICE TO HAVE, experience with

• Master's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• 3D Printing (e.g. Fused Deposition Modeling) and knowledge of slicing software (e.g. Cura)
• Consumer Product Industry
